Both Mary and Nancy use laser therapy as part of permanent hair therapy.
Laser therapy works by sending a short burst of laser light onto an area of unwanted hair. The laser light destroys the hair follicle with a series of treatments. Treatments are much faster than electrolysis, especially for clients with a lot of dark unwanted hair.
The procedure is both safe and effective. The skin is further protected during treatment by a dynamic cooling process whereby a cryogen is sprayed onto the skin, dulling the upper layers and providing the patient increased comfort.
Only Candela lasers are used. You can learn more information about the lasers at the Candela website.
Treatment intervals will vary depending on age, gender, and the area of the body being treated. Hair growth cycles are generally 4 to 8 weeks, and appointments are scheduled according to the cycles.
The length of an appointment depends on the area being treated and will vary from a few minutes to a few hours.
Both Mary and Nancy use electrolysis as a form of permanent hair removal for those clients that will not benefit from laser hair removal or who simply prefer electrolysis over laser therapy.
Electrolysis is a procedure that uses sterile, disposable needles. The thin wire filament (needle) is inserted into the hair follicle. A slight amount of heat destroys the papilla and most of the follicle so that each hair can then be easily and permanently removed.
This procedure will need to be repeated until all unwanted hair is removed.
Although more time consuming, electrolysis is definitely worth the time and effort. Clients with small amounts of unwanted hair, blond or gray hair or very dark skin may benefit most from electrolysis.
Does electrolysis and laser hair removal really work?
My chin is once again smooth, and I never have to pluck. The only thing I regret is the fact I waited so long to start. If anyone has doubts as to whether or not these treatments actually get rid of hair, rest assured, they do!
My laser treatments at Electrolysis/Laser Associates were amazingly fast with little or no pain. I am a 40-year-old woman, and through the years my beard had become so coarse and dark, nothing would remove it but shaving. After my treatments: no shaving, no embarrassing stubble. I stopped hiding my chin in my hand.
But what really impressed me was Mary’s concern about my comfort, her attention to every detail and her friendly professional manner. I felt confident that I was in the most proficient and experienced hands. Mary at Electrolysis/Laser Associates made the process so easy for me. Because my beard was so coarse, it took several follow-up treatments.
The treatments themselves were no more painful than a rubber band snap. Following the treatment, Mary applied an ice pack followed by a moisturizing lotion that was very soothing. I am simply a much happier person today thanks to Mary Vincenc and Electrolysis/Laser Associates. Thank you, Mary.
I can’t even begin to describe how great it is to no longer shave or use hair removal cream. Both Mary and Nancy are incredible and work very hard to create a comfortable, welcoming environment.
They are extremely knowledgeable and caring. Not only have I had laser hair removal on my under arms, legs, bikini area and eyebrows, my daughters have also been treated. NO MORE SHAVING! They are wondering why they waited so long.

Frequently Asked Questions
At Electrolysis/Laser Associates LLC, Mary and Nancy agree that the first questions from the majority of their clients are the following:
How do laser hair removal and electrolysis work?
These processes destroy the follicle’s ability to grow. For a more detailed explanation, see our services.
How much does hair removal cost?
Please see our pricing for facial hair and body hair.
How many treatments will I need to clear the area?
The average number of treatments is anywhere between 4-8 times depending on skin and hair color. Because hair grows in cycles, to be affective, the treatments should be performed at 6-8 weeks intervals when the follicles are in the active growth cycle. It is important to keep your scheduled appointments for best results.
Before and after results for laser hair removal
Is laser hair removal painful?
Some areas of the skin are more sensitive than others. Some individuals tolerate pain better than others.
Most clients describe a laser burst as a “warm tingling sensation.” The Candela Gentlelase instrument that is used also has a dynamic cooling agent that not only protects the skin but also makes the treatment more comfortable.
If requested, a topical anesthetic can be applied.
Who is the best candidate for laser hair removal?
The best candidate is a fair skinned person with dark hair. Because the laser beam only recognizes dark pigment, someone with white, blonde, gray or red hair is better suited for electrolysis. That procedure is not as fast as laser but it is the only permanent solution for light hair and very much worth the time and effort.
What precautions should the client be aware of before starting laser hair removal?
The biggest caution that Mary and Nancy stress is NO TANNING while in treatment. Because tanning brings out more pigment in the skin, the laser beam can be attracted to the pigment, which can cause an adverse reaction.
This does not mean that the client has to hide from the sun. They just recommend wearing a SPF 30 or more to prevent tanning the area that is being treated.

Before I start treatment, are there any instructions about my hair?
Yes. Do not pluck, tweeze, or wax your hair for 2 weeks before your appointment. Do not shave within 2 days of your appointment.
After my hair removal treatment, what should I expect?
Possible redness and/or itchiness for a few hours to a few days, depending on skin type.
Aftercare should be followed for 24-48 hours.
Avoid swimming pools, hot tubs, hot water, and heat treatments such as sunbathing and saunas for at least 24 hours.
